6th Grade -

Monday - Jello cell activity. Assignment: Preview Chapter 16.1-Classification systems.

Tuesday - Began notes on Classification systems. Assignment: Preview/read Chapter 16.1 and 2 for Wednesday. Review notes.

Wednesday - Discussed previous notes. Finished notes for section one. Group activity-students looked at books of different organisms to reinforce the discussion on scientific names (Binomial Nomenclature) and Genus names. Assignment: Read Setion 16.2 if you haven't read it. Make notecards for the 6 vocabulary words in Section 1. Due on Thursday.

Thursday - Discussion and notes on the Kingdoms. Complete discussion of the Chapter. Assignment: Worksheet to reinforce lesson. UPDATED!! Dichotomous key activity. Assignment: Dichotomous Key on page 467 - All-Due Thursday. Remaining 10 vocabulary notecards are due by Monday.

Friday - Assign groups for the Kingdoms project. Students will be given a topic to research. The information will come from their Science textbooks. More details to come.

8th Grade -
Monday -Discussed Cell/Cell Processes Test. Students that passed the test with a C or better will continue on with the next topic of discussion. Chapter 16-Mitosis/Meiosis. Preview/read Chapter 16.1 and make notecards of the 3 vocabulary words.

Those that do not pass with a C or better will continue to review the material they struggled with. These students will be allowed to retake the test by Friday if they study with Mrs. Hunter before school, during lunch recess, and during study hall. Students will be allowed to take the test earlier than Friday if I feel they are ready.

Tuesday - Group 1-study with Mrs. Hunter for the material that was difficult to prepare for your re-take of the test. Group 2- Draw the Mitosis and Meiosis diagrams to use for studying. Label, color, neatness, title and descriptions (will be given on Thursday). Students that are absent will be given time in class to work on their diagrams on Wednesday.

Wednesday - Group 1 - Discussions over the material for re-take of test. Group 2- Handouts of notes. In class work-create and complete diagrams. Assignment: read over notes and vocabulary. Mitosis diagrams are due on Thursday.

Thursday - Group 1-continue discussing/studying for test on Friday. Group 2-Discuss notes and review section 1 in the text. Provide descriptions for diagrams. Updated!!!Assignment: Work sheet pages. Use your notes. Due Monday.

Friday - Group 1- Complete the test if you have studied with Mrs. Hunter. Group 2 - Continue with Reproduction of cells.
