Homework: Aug. 31-Sept. 4

All:  Preview each lesson: What You’ll Learn, Vocabulary, Why it’s Important, (In the box at the beginning of each section) Captions & Pictures/graphs/tables, Section Headings-(Think about what kind of information might be in the paragraphs below each heading-Critical Thinking Skills), Section Assessments-(notice these usually match up with the box information), & Chapter Review. This skill is important for you to practice on a daily bases to reinforce the material we are learning in class. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete.

6th Grade:
Monday - Begin Microscopes. See handouts, book appendix pg. 646. Assignment: Make note cards for all the parts and their jobs. (15 points) Due: Tuesday- 9/1/09. Continue to Preview & study safety rules & microscopes. Study for your quiz on Friday-Safety & microscopes.
Tuesday – Demonstrate microscope use & care. Students use hands on to become familiar with the microscope parts and their-partner work. Check note cards. Study for your quiz on Friday-Safety & microscopes.
Wednesday – Practice using the microscopes. Study for your quiz on Friday-Safety & microscopes.
Thursday – Review Game for Quiz.
Friday – Safety & Microscope Quiz.

8th Grade –
Monday - 6th period collect confection connection write-up.
4th & 6th period - Practice using protractors and making angles in a circle (circle graphs). Worksheet - Protractor/ circle graph & Microscope note cards Due Tuesday. Remember to studying for the safety, equipment, microscope, protractor/circle material for the quiz on Thursday.
Tuesday – Review microscopes and equipment – Hands-on. (This should be just a review because you have had this material for two years)
Wednesday - Review microscopes and equipment – Hands-on.
Thursday – Quiz over safety, equipment, & microscopes.
Friday – Activity: Quantitative/Qualitative observations.
