November 16-20, 2009 -***UPDATED!!!*** 11/19

I am sorry I am not able to be there to teach you, but my family needs me right now. I miss you all terribly. I hope you are all working very hard for Mrs. Bender. Remember to preview your chapter and to study hard!! 6th grade-
Monday: Discussed observation of the cookie lab. Discussed the rest of the introduction science process skills packet.  Assignment: Observe your dinner!!  Make a chart to collect your observations.  Here are some examples of what you might have in your chart: Title:   Dinner  Observation

Meat,Vegetable, Salad, Potato/Bread, Fruit, Drink, and Desert. Remember to use your science process skill sheet to help you gather and record your observations.  Don't forget to include condiments!!!  Due Tuesday.
Tuesday: Discuss dinner observation. Discuss picture observation. Discuss section assessment questions from section 1. Go over assignment you will have on Wednesday-pay attention because I will not be here on Wednesday. Assignment: Complete the observation bird page. Turn in the bin on Wednesday. Quiz on Friday over science process skills!! Try the online quiz and game to help you study for Friday's quiz!!!
Wednesday: I am not here today.  Follow the instructions for your in-class lab. Worms, worms, and more worms!!! :-)  Remember to use your science process skills to help you throughout the observation. You must complete your lab in class today so watch your time!! No additional assignment. Quiz on Friday over science process skills!! Try the online quiz and game to help you study for Friday's quiz!!!

Thursday: Discuss Worm observations.  Discuss the rest of the observation bird page.

8th Grade-
Monday: No 3rd hour class today.  6th Hour: discussed worksheet. Began notes on Living Organisms. Assignment: Study for pop Quiz over cell parts and their jobs!!
Tuesday: POP Quiz!!!! :-)  Hope you have been studying!!!  Complete notes on living organisms. 
Wednesday:  I am not here today. Design a brochure promoting Animal and Plant cells. If your cells were healthy enough to help other people, how would you promote or decide who would get your cells? Would you give them away or would you make people purchase them? You must include drawings of both cells and include individual drawings of each of the following parts of the cells: cell membrane, cell wall, cytoplasm, nucleus, nucleolus, chromatin, nuclear membrane, lysosomes, vacuoles, golgi bodies (apparatus), mitochondria, ribosomes, (SER) smooth endoplasmic reticulum, and the (RER) rough endoplasmic reticulum. You must also give an explanation of each cell part stating its purpose or function. Include color and creativity. Rubric: Each full cell is worth 10 points. Each cell part and explanation of purpose/function is worth 5 points. Your promotion of your cells/cell parts is worth 10 points. You will automatically loose 10 points if there is no color or title!  Due by Friday11/20.  You will have class time on Wednesday and Thursday to work on this assignment.  Check out the web sites I gave you to help individualize your drawings. If you are not able to use the internet at home I suggest you see me on Tuesday. 
Thursday: Work on cell brochure.
Friday: Cell brochure is due!!!
