6th Grade-
Monday: Students were given assignments last week and some students do not have them completed. :-( Students need to have their 6 Question worksheet completed. They have been given instructions which assignments on this paper they are to do: 6 Questions, Mini lab 1.11, Hypothesis activity-Due on Thursday. Candle worksheets completed by Thursday-Use and apply the notes to your assignments to make sure you complete the work correctly. Make sure all of your charts are filled out with your organized data.

8th Grade-
Monday: Discussion about Kingdoms and upcoming project.
Tuesday: Pre-Test for Classification. We will be working on the project in class up until the due date-Students are required to research because books are not available to them. I will be posting websites for them to help in their research. Students will also be given notes and worksheets to help in their learning of the material. Present project assignment-Students have a hard copy also.
Design a book containing the following details: Due Date: 12/ 18
**Explain and give 1 examples of each unless stated otherwise: Total- 12 points
(Classifying, Taxonomy, Kingdoms, Binomial nomenclature-2 examples and pictures, Genus-2 examples and pictures, Species-2 examples and pictures)
**Describe the Linnaeus’s system and Aristotle’s classification system. (2 pts each)
**Explain the following and give 1 example and picture of each: (3 pts each) Total-6 pts
(Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes)
**Explain the classifications of each of the six kingdoms/give 2 examples and pictures of each: (5 pts each) Total- 30 pts
(Moneran, Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Protist, Fungi, Plant, Animal)
**Groups within Kingdoms: Explain why organisms need to be organized into groups within Kingdoms. (2 pts) and give 1 example and picture for each Kingdom. (12 pts each) Total – 14 pts
(Kingdom, Phylum/Division (plant), Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species)
**Dichotomous Key: Explain what a dichotomous key is, how it is used, and how it is useful to scientists. (3 pts) Give 2 examples with pictures included. (4 pts) Total-7 pts
**Why are scientific names more useful to scientists than common names? (2 pts) Give 5 different examples of organisms’ scientific names and common names with a picture included. (15 pts) Total – 17 pts
**Title Page, Table of content page, and bibliography page-total –10 points
Total Points of project: 100
Document all the work you and your partner do. You may print pictures or draw pictures. Do not print paragraphs of information for your book to put in your book. Be creative. Research your topic. Make sure you have something to work on every day in class. If you do not bring materials to class to work on your project in class, you will receive a “0” for the day.
